North Shore Hospital
Pacific first began working at Waitemata District Health Board North Shore Hospital in 2001 on the Emergency Department upgrade as services coordination managers for Fletcher Construction. We have completed many projects since then including the 2002 maternity ward, and 2010 maternity ward extension, orthopaedic operating theatre upgrades and most recently the Lakeview Extension completed in 2012.
The Lakeview extension is a 3-level building extension at the end of the main podium, which incorporated the replacement of the existing ground floor Emergency Department with an Assessment and Diagnostic Unit, and a new Emergency Department located in the new wing. Lower ground floor areas provide staff offices and facilities. This project included the upgrading and extension of the existing main chiller plant, BMS and medical gas systems. Installation of a new VIE bulk oxygen storage tanks and connection to the existing hospital medical oxygen network required a complete shutdown of the hospital medical oxygen system. This required weeks of planning with the hospital facilities and medical team to arrange portable oxygen tanks and coordinate theatre scheduled to minimise impacts on the hospital operations.
